I had to laugh to myself the other day when I opened my purse, alongside my driving licence and bank cards were cards for the National Trust, the library, a prepaid perscription and the WI. How had this happened to me? I still feel the same as I did when I was in my twenties but now in my fifties (early fifties that is) I am going to refuse to get old without a lot of fun and excitement. The WI can sometimes have the image of dare I say, Jam and Jerusalem and it was with a bit of trepidation that I went along to my first meeting. But I have to say that I have met and made friends with some of the nicest people from all ages and backgrounds all working towards having fun and giving something back to the community. I have always been interested in baking and now being officially a member of the WI I have the excuse to try and share new recipes ( in fact it is my duty to visit Lakeland Plastic on a regular basis to keep up with their new lines in cupcake cases).
Great excitement is brewing as me and some other members are entering the Going for Gold challenge. This is where we have to make cakes, arrange flowers, make crafty things for a competition, Kirsty Allsop eat your heart out! Watch this space........
